Welgevonden Game Reserve is a mere 3 hour drive from OR Tambo International Airport and will bring you to the heart of the spectacular Waterberg. The Waterberg is situated high in the Limpopo Province, is one of South Africa’s last unspoilt wildernesses. Free from malaria, with a temperate climate, Welgevonden is a leading South African private game reserve.

Vegetation within Welgevonden is classified as savannah i.e. wooded grasslands. The Savannah Biome is home to a diverse range of plant and animal life with over 5500 plants endemic to Southern Africa. Its 35 000 hectares of land are home to the Big Five – Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino and Elephant, Cheetah, Hippo, 16 species of antelope and a rich variety of other animals and some 300 species of birds to be sighted.
